Black Bears

Black Bear
Black Bears in Glacier National Park

Their name can be misleading because black bears can be other colors like brown or cinnamon and some even have white patches on their torso. These bears are very territorial.  Even though they are classified as carnivores, only 25% of their diet is meat. Usually they eat vegetable and plant bits and pieces.

Black Bears are solitary and are active in the morning, late evening and night. They can be found throughout the park.  To learn more about Montana’s black bears, go here.
